Two children were taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Monday afternoon after a commercial truck ran into the back of the jeep the children were riding in.
Emergency crews responded to the westbound lane of Interstate 80 around 2:50 p.m. for a report of a car vs. semi. Upon arrival, police found a commercial truck had run into the back of a Jeep Cherokee.
Police said the jeep was traveling slower than the truck, which played a role in the driver of the truck running into the back of the jeep. They added the driver of the jeep did not do anything wrong and said it was a case of the truck driver being distracted or not paying attention.
Both children complained of pain after the accident, but the extent of the injuries are unknown. Police said charges are pending for the driver of the truck.
