Obama opposition not about race
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 11, 2013 1:42 pm
The Oct. 29 letter by Clara Oleson (“Affordable Care Act is not about racial hatred”) says the reason people are against the Affordable Care Act is that they are racist.
I am tired of hearing people play the race card every time someone disagrees with the president. I do not care if the president is black, white, brown or chartreuse. He could be Democrat or Republican, and I would still say the Affordable Care Act is bad.
There are multiple issues where I disagree with President Obama, and every time it has been because of a clash in ideology and policy. I did not vote for him because I disagree with him. It had nothing to do with the color of his skin.
I know of no one who did not vote for Obama based on race, but I have heard quite a few people say they voted for Obama based on his race. Which people then are racist?
Stop calling everyone who is against President Obama's policies a racist. We are not afraid to stand up for what we see as right. We care about this country and we want it to be strong and free for our children.
The president's policies are spending us into a debt we cannot ever pay off. His policies are costing people more by raising taxes, making them lose their desired doctor - many have lost their insurance - and raising the cost of many health insurance premiums.
