Joseph Daniel Pfiffner, 37, of Cedar Rapids, died April 22, 2021 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a traumatic brain injury. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of facemasks or shields is required.
In keeping with Joseph's loving and generous spirit, it was a decision to donate life so others may live it. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Iowa Donor Network for all their care and guidance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Willis Dady homeless shelter for veterans.
Joseph Pfiffner was born on Jan. 19, 1984, in Cedar Rapids to John and Ann Pfiffner. Joseph graduated from George Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and later earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Mount Mercy University. Joseph worked as a plumber for several years in the Cedar Rapids metro area before being hired by Motion Industries (Apache Hose). Joseph was an avid outdoorsman since elementary school, when he first went pheasant hunting with his father. Joseph spent his late fall months hunting game with his friends. Joseph also enjoyed fishing. Joseph was an excellent cook and loved to grill, especially steak and ribs. Joseph had an easygoing personality and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Joseph will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, John and Ann; brother, Benjamin (Lori) Pfiffner of Davenport; niece, Layla; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding Joseph in death were his grandparents, James and Jean Kazimour; Daniel and Mercedes Pfiffner, and uncle, James Kazimour ll, all of Cedar Rapids.
