Harvey Hinrichs, 83, died peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa, City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello. Pastor Gene Schipper will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Fu-neral Home, Monticello.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Jones Regional Medical Center or Camp Courageous of Iowa.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred; two children, Susan (Greg) Brokens, Iowa Falls, and Steven (Jacki) Hinrichs, West Des Moines; four grand-children, Becky (Doug) Tarr, Sarah Hinrichs, Tony (Christy) Brokens and Tyler (Alison) Hinrichs; five great-grandsons, Jackson and Gavin Neely, Tucker and Hudson Brokens and Camden Hinrichs; two stepgreat-granddaughters, Deonny and Brenna Goodman; his siblings, Norman (Betty) Hinrichs, Monticello, and Betty (Jerry) Andresen, Wyoming; and his sister-in-law, Jan Hinrichs, Hampton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, LeRoy.
Harvey Fred Hinrichs was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa, the son of Tobias and Elise Doden Hinrichs. Harvey at-tended the rural schools near his home. He completed his education as an adult, receiving a GED.
Harvey married Mildred Rieniets on March 11, 1951, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Wayne and Castle Grove townships. They moved to Monticello in 1957 and Harvey worked for the Iowa DOT out of the Anamosa Shop. He worked for Monticello Community Schools and the city of Monticello as well. He was employed as a funeral assistant at Goettsch Funeral Home for over 20 years.
Harvey was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, He was baptized March 5, 1931, as a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. He confirmed his faith on March 25, 1945, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. When the couple farmed in Castle Grove Township he was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church. He taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
Harvey loved his family and will be truly missed. His life and impact will always be cherished and remembered.
