Lain, Evelyn Marie
Evelyn Marie Lain, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, in Heritage Nursing & Rehab. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial: Czech National Cemetery.
Survivors include her sons, Loran Lain Jr. and Lowell Lain, both of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, John Lain, Laura Lain and Becky Lain, all of Cedar Rapids; and her great-grandchildren, Samatha Lain of Tulsa, Okla., and Alex Lain of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loran H. Lain; her daughter-in-law, Ki K. Lain; brothers and sisters,
Evelyn was born July 9, 1917, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lewis and Pauline Melsha. She married Loran H. Lain on Aug. 5, 1942, in Norfolk, Va. Evelyn worked at Killian's Department Store in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Eagles and American Auxiliary and Western Fraternal Lodge 262. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
