Jane Edith Ortner died unexpectedly March 19, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. She was 82 years old.
Jane was born in Anamosa, Iowa, to Francis and Celestena (O'Brien) Maudsley on Aug. 2, 1933. She graduated from St. Angela's Academy in Carroll in 1951. She went on to get her teaching certificate from Clarke College in Dubuque. On June 11, 1955. she married Dale Ortner in Anamosa.
Jane is survived by her husband; her four sons, Robert and Joseph of Cedar Rapids, Matthew (Tamara) of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Michael of St. Paul, Minn.; her sister, Kathryn Beisell of Anamosa; and her grandchildren. Tara Ortner, Jack Ortner and Abby Ortner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
Jane was a charter member of St. Pius X Parish and was active in numerous church and school committees at the parish for many years.
Services will be at St. Pius X in Cedar Rapids at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 23. Visitation will be held at St. Pius X the hour immediately before, with burial at a later date.
