Opal R. Faas, 90, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 21, 2014. A funeral service celebrating Opal's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with the Rev.
David Carrick of CR Grace Church officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Survivors include her three sons, Robert (Deborah) Herdlicka of Cedar Rapids, Donald (Loni) Faas of Warsaw, Ind., and Ronald (Jennifer) Faas of Cedar Rapids; and grandchildren, Amy (Jerry) Hogan, Paula (Raymond) Dix, Rob
(Heather) Herdlicka, William (April) Faas, Meghann (Eric) Claussen, Hillary (Craig) Locker, Amanda (Nick) Larson, Ashley Faas and Olivia Faas.
Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert Herdlicka; second husband, William Faas; son, Paul Faas; two sisters; and a brother.
Opal R. Shine was born July 7, 1924, in Victor, Iowa, the daughter of Bryan and Pearl (Walton) Shine. She married Robert Herdlicka in 1946, he died in 1947. She then married William H. Faas at North English, Iowa, on April 9, 1950. Opal worked in the kitchen for several years at Washington High School and was a member of CR Grace Church. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
