Gazette considering 100 percent employee ownership
CEDAR RAPIDS - The Gazette Co., parent company of The Gazette and KCRG-TV9, informed employees Friday that it is exploring converting to 100 percent employee ownership.
Elizabeth Schott, a member of one of the founding families and The Gazette's director of community relations, said maintaining the company's independence and service to the community are priorities for the family.
President and CEO Chuck Peters said an independent trustee has been appointed and the process will likely take a couple of months to finalize details.
