Greenwood, Inez 'Iny'
Inez “Iny” Greenwood, 90, of Vinton, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vinton. In accordance with her wishes, Inez has been cremated and the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth St., in Vinton. A Celebration of Life service will be held immediately following the visitation on Tuesday. Private family interment will be at a later date.
Inez was born May 12, 1921, the daughter of S. P. and Mary Turley Ralston, in Cedar Rapids. Inez was united in marriage to Virgil Greenwood on Feb. 20, 1943, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Collins Radio and as a secretary for the Cedar Rapids Board of Education.
Inez is survived by her husband of 69 years, Virgil of Vinton; two children, Sue (Randy) Eckhoff of Dike and Gordon of Vinton; two grandchildren, Molly (Jason) Dabroski of Marion and Justin Eckhoff of Dike; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Emerson Dabroski; sister, Dorothy Smith of Seattle, Wash.; half brother, Roger (Mary) Donegan of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Greenwood of Vinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Donegan.
A memorial fund has been established.
