Richard Eugene Hines, 86, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at the Winslow House in Marion.
Funeral service will be
1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be one hour before service. Burial will take place following the funeral in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Richard was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Manchester, Iowa, to Lyman and Josephine (Payne) Hines. Following graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Army. On April 20, 1973, he was united in marriage to Thursa Cypra. He worked in the maintenance department for Penford, retiring after 30 years.
He was a passive man and just let life happen as it came.
Richard is survived by his son, Fred Hines; three daughters from a previous marriage; two stepdaughters; a grandchild, September Gorsh; a great-grandchild, Ava Gorsh; son-in-law, Randy Helmrich; and caregiver, Louise Helmrich.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thursa, and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
