Vandersee, Dixie Lee
Dixie Lee Vandersee, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW, with the Rev. Tom Mattson presiding. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Brosh Chapel.
Dixie was born June 8, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Mildred Baird Klouda. She married Marvin "Bud" P. Vandersee on Dec. 27, 1965, in Rock Island. She worked at Turner Microphone and Collins in her early years. She assisted running Vandersee Backhoe alongside her husband Bud for many years. She liked to go fishing, going to garage sales, gardening and camping as well as spending time with her family and her dog Rocky.
She will be greatly missed by all.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Bud; her children, Lisa (Joe) Dumond of Covington and Lori (Brad) Kolarik of Marion; her stepchildren, Robert (Pat) Vandersee of Marion, Judy (Denny) Suchan of Bradyville, Vicki Crinigan of Cedar Rapids, Linda (George) Robinson of Cedar Rapids, Kevin (Chris) Vandersee of Phoenix, Mike Vandersee of Cedar Rapids, Terry Vandersee of Cedar Rapids and Randy (Sally) Vandersee of Springville; her grandchildren, Nicole Dumond, Morgan and Abby Kolarik; 21 stepgrandchildren; 23 stepgreat-grandchildren, a sister, Bonnie (Bill) Feuss in Lisbon; four nieces; and a stepsister, Yvonne Pedersen of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Randall; her stepmother, Gertie Klouda; and her parents, William and Mildred Klouda.
Memorials may be directed to the Ladies Auxiliary.
