Wagner, Darlene M.
CEDAR RAPIDS - Darlene M. Wagner, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Sept. 14, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a short illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Friends may call at the chapel after 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her sister, Glorene Klever of Marengo; nieces, Diane Benoit, Gloria Leazer, Gayle McCulley and Glenda Campbell; nephews, Denny Nowotny, Randy Nowotny and Marty Nowotny; as well as many close friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lena Nowotny; her husband, Kenneth; and two brothers, Harold and Melvin.
Darlene was born near White Lake, S.D., on Aug. 18, 1919. She moved to Victor, Iowa, with her parents when she was 3 years old. She started school at Victor High School when she was 4, graduating with the class of 1936. She attended college in Cedar Rapids and then worked as a private secretary for several individuals. She then worked for Collins Radio for 30 years. She married Kenneth Wagner on Feb. 15, 1941. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1998. She and Kenny loved to travel all throughout Europe and most of the United States.
She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
