Jerald D. Wyatt, 73, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. A visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services are private. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Ken (Amy) Wyatt and Wendy Schmid, both of California; four grandchildren, Joshua, Virginia, Joseph and Robert; and his siblings, Judy (Dan) Hoerner-Smyth of Miami, Fla., Dennis (Mercy) Wyatt of Marion and Roger (Linda) Wyatt of Hiawatha.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerald was born June 11, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Dean and Marva (Bausch) Wyatt. He served in the Navy during peacetime, then married and began working at the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station in Ridgecrest, Calif. Jerald was a commercial mechanic for the Naval Ordnance Test Station until 1979 at which time he moved to Arkansas and later back to Iowa.
Some of Jerald's hobbies included cooking and boondocking in the desert.
He was a kind and caring man and will be missed.
