Sullivan, Jacquelyn B. (Jackie)
Jacquelyn B. (Jackie) Sullivan, 89, of Iowa City, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Mercy Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Iowa City, with Father John Spiegel officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
Jackie was born in Chicago on Sept. 26, 1924, to Roland B. Butterfield and Marie (Howe) Butterfield. She married John Sullivan on April 3, 1948. Their loving marriage lasted 61 years, until his death in 2009. Jackie was a caring and special person who lived life every day with vigor and style. She was a role model to her children who admired her strength and she was loved by all whose lives she touched. Jackie dedicated her life to her family and her church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Margo Schilling, all of the caregivers from Iowa City Hospice and the staff at Melrose Meadows Assisted Living, especially Alishea and Iceland, for their compassionate and loving care.
Survivors include sons, John Sullivan, Jr. (Sharon Whiting) and Kevin (Cathy) Sullivan; daughters, Pat Ullman and Mary (Steve) Adamek; and grandchildren, Lauren (Sam) Madoff, Danny Ullman, Rachel and Emily Adamek, Catherine Sullivan and Audrey Keller.
She is also remembered with love by her many friends at Melrose Meadows in Iowa City.
