Arlene L. Moss, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly Saturday, March 5, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids with her loving family by her side.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Arlene was born April 21, 1928, to John and Edith Hollister in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Howard Moss on May 8, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. Arlene worked as an inspector at Rockwell Collins for 20 years before retiring in 1984. After that she worked with Hospice of Mercy as a CNA for 18 years. After retiring from Hospice of Mercy, she volunteered on Sundays at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
During her free time she loved to do crossword puzzles, word searches, solitaire, needle point and golf. No matter what sport was in season she always rooted for the "under dogs." Most of all, Arlene loved to spend time with her family.
Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Howard; three sons, Howard (Terry) Moss of West Branch, Rick (Kathi) Moss of Cedar Rapids and Gary (Joy) Moss of Farmington, Ill.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steve Moss; great-grandson, Little Cory; and two brothers, Richard and Donald Hollister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Mercy or St. Luke's Foundation.
