Letter: Trump’s electoral vote total far from record

According to James Schmitz, 'Not only did Trump win - he won big” ('Election was fair and honest,” Dec. 19).
The source for that opinion must be a Trump tweet. The president-elect's electoral vote total, a few more than 300, is far from a record.
He didn't win big in the popular vote, either. Hillary Clinton drew nearly 3 million more votes than he did.
Everybody knows that. Except Schmitz. Or is he doing what the president-elect keeps doing: ignoring facts and selling a trumped-up 'reality”?
That's a real menace. If that sort of 'reality” becomes the norm in our public discourse, soon or later our national nose will get bent out of shape by true reality.
