CEDAR RAPIDS - It's called the College Community School District for a reason. Cedar Rapids Prairie geographically neighbors Kirkwood Community College and has hired another of its coaches to be the head coach for one of its summer sports.
Todd Rima is the new Hawks baseball coach, Activities Director Rocky Bennett announced Friday night. Rima also is Kirkwood's baseball coach, is an academic advisor there and will continue with those roles.
'We are extremely excited to have Coach Rima lead our baseball program,” said Bennett. 'He's highly regarded in the baseball circles throughout the state and his knowledge of the game and his experiences at the collegiate and high school level is second to none. I've been around Todd in a variety of settings and he is a tremendous teacher of the game who works well with kids at all levels.”
Rima and his wife, Molly have three children in the College Commmunity School District. Prairie's softball coach is Joe Yegge, who also doubles as Kirkwood's softball coach.
'There is a tremendous amount of pride in the Prairie community and I've really learned to love the school district and the kids,” Rima said. 'I am excited for the opportunity to lead the program and help it grow.”
