Heath Michael Mihal, 41, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Brosh

Heath was born April 2, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Gene and Susan (Rompot) Mihal. He attended Monroe, Taft and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1995. He joined Options of Linn County in 1996. They gave him such good care and they all loved Heath. Heath was the "sunshine" of everyone's life who met him. He loved being a part of the game – supporting his brothers/dad's teams; riding in the Model A's was a favorite of his; rooting for the Cubs, like his grandmas; giving high fives was his favorite way to greet someone; animals; and most of all spending time with his loving family.
Heath is survived by his father, Gene (Sue Anne) Mihal, and mother, Sue Mihal (Clyde Melvin), both of Cedar Rapids; his two brothers, Kelly Mihal of Cedar Rapids and Scott (Holly) Mihal, and their children, Tanner and Cael, of Webster; his stepbrother, Matt (Sarah) Melvin, and their children, Tristan, John and Sidonia, of Marion; his stepsister, Sally (Steve) Strah of Coralville; his grandmother, Leona Mihal of Cedar Rapids; stepgrand-parents, Fred and Doris Templer of Cedar Rapids; uncles, the Rev. Mr. Vernon Rompot Jr. KHS and Randy (Marge) Rompot Sr., both of Cedar Rapids, Doug (Pam) Mollenhauer of Ankeny, John (Sherry) Kahler-Melvin and Kirk (Deb) Schatzle, both of Cedar Rapids, Gene Templer of Shueyville and Richard (Sue) Mihal of Ocean Springs, Miss.; aunts, Betty Sheets of Cedar Rapids and Barb Rompot of Marion; his good friend and helper, Gail, and her dogs, Sammy, Flea and Dozer; as well as his many cousins.
Heath was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon and Sadie Rompot; two uncles, Bobby Rompot and Kenneth Mihal; aunt, Lori Ann Rompot; and his cousins, Todd Sheets, Barb Mihal and Iszack Rompot.
Memorials may be directed to either Cedar Valley Humane Society and or Hospice of Mercy in his name.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Hospice of Mercy for their loving care of Heath and his family.
