CEDAR RAPIDS -- Jennifer Keitel was soaked. She had the game-winning basket and the game-saving block. Her reward -- an ambush of open water bottles upon entering a cheerful locker room.Keitel's turnaround jumper with 15 seconds put DeWitt Central ahead, then her block on Janay Pritchett's last-ditch drive preserved the Class 3A seventh-ranked Sabers' 43-42 win over 4A No. 5 Cedar Rapids Washington during Rivalry Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Center."I knew time was running out, but I wanted to score so bad," said Keitel, who drove the right baseline and scored over Tia Dawson. "Tia's such a good post player, and she'd blocked me before. I knew I had to adjust."The Sabers (14-2) led virtually the whole way, but Washington (12-3) caught and passed them late. Alissa Oney's two free throws tied the game, 41-41, then Jazz Royster hit the second of two to put the Warriors in front with 1:25 to go.Oney missed the front end of a one-and-one, keeping the door open. Keitel's shot allowed the Sabers to walk through.Keitel and Lindsay Smith scored 21 and 15 points, respectively. That's 36 of the Sabers' 43."Two kids beat us," said Washington Coach Frank Howell. "That goes against everything I believe. We let two kids beat us, and we couldn't do anything about it."They aren't two common kids. Keitel has signed with Northern Iowa, Smith with Wisconsin."It's always been Lindsay and I, since fourth grade," Keitel said. "We have a connection, we always know where the other is. And our other teammates are there if we need them."Central scored the first seven points, and it seemed Washington was swimming upstream all game. The Warriors rallied from a 12-point deficit to beat Iowa City High on Friday; they couldn't climb the hill Saturday. The last chance came on Pritchett's drive from the left wing. Keitel stopped it."When I was a freshman or sophomore, that would have been a foul," Keitel said. "I've gotten a lot better at staying straight up."Oney led Washington with 11 points. Dawson registered eight points and eight rebounds.
