We're Still Better Than China - in Basketball, Anyhow
Mike Hlas Aug. 10, 2008 10:57 pm
It was quite thrilling and all to see the U.S. posted a 101-70 win over China in Olympics men's basketball, and with China holding the home-nation advantage at that.
Our NBA players are still better than theirs. USA! USA!
However, America isn't winning all the vital contests with the Chinese. British publication Financial Times reported Sunday (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/2aa7a12e-6709-11dd-808f-0000779fd18c.html) that China is set to overtake the US next year as the world's largest producer of manufactured goods. That's four years sooner than expected thanks to the decaying U.S. economy.
So enjoy your LeBron James and Michael Phelps and Dana Torres and Shawn Johnson, my fellow Americans. At least someone in the U.S. will have some gold.
