This has been a pretty rotten year for Iowa, all in all, with flood and tornado damage.
No gold medal will change any of that. But you know Iowans from Rock Rapids to Keokuk will enjoy watching Shawn Johnson's gold-winning balance beam performance at the Beijing Olympics Tuesday night on tape-delay.
Time after time after time, people from this state go forth and do tremendous things. It never hurts to see another example.
