Police said a woman with a gun tried to rob a Walgreens pharmacy Tuesday morning.
Officers were called around 6:45 a.m. to Walgreens, 3325 16th Ave. SW. They learned a woman pointed a handgun at one of the employees and demanded a drug.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said the pharmacist ducked and ran out a back door to call 911. The suspect then pointed the gun at a customer and ordered that person to thr ground, before running out the front door. She was last seen running east toward the Theisens store.
No one was hurt in the attempted robbery.
Officers used a K-9 dog to search the area. The dog led them east from Walgreens and then across 16th Avenue SW to an area along 12th Avenue SW, but police did not find anyone.
The suspect is described as a white woman, between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-4 with a thin build. She was wearing some kind of mask, with the nose cut out, and her forehead was painted black, police said. She was wearing a dark green hooded sweat shirt during the robbery.
An investigation was continuing.
Hamblin said investigators would be reviewing surveillance footage that may have captured the incident.
“They'll interview everybody and look at the video,” Hamblin said. “I'm sure we'll be seeking help from the public, as well.”
