Falls, Elizabeth (Betty) Bair
Elizabeth (Betty) Bair Falls, 96, a resident of Higley Mansion died peacefully surrounded by her three children on Thursday, May 23, 2013, of complications from a recent fall. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. June 9 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Bob David will officiate. Childcare will be provided. Internment will be in Webster City, Iowa, at a later date. There will be no visitation. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth Louise Norman was born on July 19, 1916, in Lenox, Iowa, to Dr. Franklin J. and Delphine Peltier Norman. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines.
She was united in marriage to Howard I. (Cub) Bair on Sept. 7, 1935. After his death in 1973, she wintered in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., where she later met and married William K. Falls in 1981. They were married for 28 years, until his death in 2009.
She was a member of First Congregational Church in Mason City for over 50 years where she was active in Women's Fellowship. She was a member of OT Study Club and Chapter GN PEO. She enjoyed bridge, golf, cooking, gardening, needlepoint and travel. She cherished time with her family whenever she could be with them.
She is survived by her children, Anne (Gary) Wilcox, Ted Bair and Molly (Mark) Williams; and stepsons, Bill Falls (Judi Spence) and Ian (Dawn) Falls.
She had 11 grandchildren and their spouses and 16 great-grandchildren with a 17th due in August.
The family would like to thank Iowa Hospice and the staff at Higley Mansion for the excellent and loving care provided.
Memorial gifts may be directed to either First Congregational Churches (Mason City or Cedar Rapids) or to Iowa Hospice.
