DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A former nursing supervisor at a Coralville nursing home has been charged with impeding state inspectors.
Karen Etters is charged with attempting to impede or interfere with state inspections at Windmill Manor. She is accused of threatening to fire employees if they reported quality-of-care concerns to state inspectors.
According to state records, Etters admitted making the threat last spring but told inspectors she would not have followed through on it.
The nursing home was fined $5,000 by the Iowa Department of Inspection and Appeals, and the facility's owners are appealing. Etter is scheduled to appear in court on April 19.
No working phone number for Etter was found and court officials say no attorney is listed for Etter.
