Quetsch, Frances Dineen
Frances Dineen Quetsch, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Nov. 10, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at All Saints Catholic Church, where friends may call after 9 a.m. The Rev. David O'Connor will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a vigil service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Dr. Richard Quetsch; her children, Mary Hansen and husband Thomas of Cedar Rapids, Kathleen Edwards and husband Thomas of Eau Claire, Wis., Joseph Questch and wife Mary Manulik of Columbia, Mo., Margaret Quetsch-Bales and husband Brian Bales of West Des Moines, and John Quetsch of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Mary Yanan of Schwenksville, Pa.; and her grandchildren, Conor, Sheala and Patrick Hansen, Brian and Kate Edwards, Matthew, Timothy and Elizabeth Quetsch, Joseph Quetsch-Bales and Shaun and Heather Bales.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Kevin and Patrick.
Frances was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Springfield, Ill., the daughter of John and Frances (Keeley) Dineen. Her family later relocated to River Forest, Ill. She graduated from Rosary College in 1949. She was united in marriage to Dr. Richard M. Quetsch on Oct. 15, 1949, in River Forest, Ill. She worked as a fundraiser for Four Oaks before her retirement. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister and a member of the choir. She served as president of the Mercy Auxiliary, and as president of the Women's Committee and a board member at the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra. She was also employed by Armstrong's as a model.
She will be forever remembered as being an excellent cook, seamstress and gardener (especially roses). She loved to be in the state of Colorado, where she enjoyed skiing and hiking. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. Above all, her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her beloved family.
She will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations in Frances' honor may be made to All Saints Catholic Church or to Four Oaks.
