Hlastradmus: Doubling down on Hawkeyes, Cyclones

Oct. 8, 2015 3:05 pm
Much like the football teams of Iowa and Iowa State, Hlastradamus had a good week last week.
That's because Hlastradamus took Iowa and Iowa State, who had good weeks. See how that works?
The prophet can be set in his ways. He still hasn't changed the clocks in his house so that they're in the 21st Century. So he's riding those same two horses this week.
Iowa -11 vs. Illinois
It's a lot of points against a 4-1 team. But the Illini haven't faced a defense as good as Iowa's, and their only road game was a 48-14 loss to North Carolina.
Last year, the Hawkeyes had touchdown drives of 67, 71, 66 and 86 yards at Illinois. They won't need that many this time.
Heck, they didn't need that many last time.
Iowa State +10.5 at Texas Tech
After watching TCU and Baylor score a combined 118 points against them the last two weeks, the Red Raiders have to be red wrecks.
Iowa State doesn't have a TCU or Baylor offense. But the Cyclones are better than many believe. Their loss to Iowa was, in reality, a one-score game. They should have won at Toledo, which may take a 13-0 record to a bowl game.
If the Cyclones aren't competitive in this game, Hlastradamus says he won't touch next week's Texas-ISU game.
But he says a lot of stuff. Who remembers?
Ohio State -33 vs. Maryland
Maryland put out a press release Thursday saying its current head coach will still be its head coach on Saturday.
That says one thing: Maryland football is dead.
Ohio State football, on the other hand, is quite alive.
Northwestern +7.5 at Michigan
Riddle the seer this: A Northwestern team that is allowing just seven points per game is a 7.5-point underdog to Michigan? Or anyone?
Yes, Michigan has blanked its last two opponents. But just how many points are the Wolverines going to score against the Wildcats when an offense as potent as Stanford's managed just six?
Purdue +3.5 vs. Minnesota
Hlastradamus doesn't think Minnesota is very good. He's very opinionated.
