Roberts, David W.
CEDAR RAPIDS - David W. Roberts, 87, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Graveside memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in the Last Supper section of Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. There will be no visitation. Military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31.
He was born June 8, 1923, in Ollie, Mont., son of David F. and Neva M. (Snow) Roberts. He married Doris L. Barker on Feb. 12, 1944, in Waterloo. Mr. Roberts was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years, retiring in August 1980. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife of Cedar Rapids; four daughters, Diane C. (Richard) Freggiaro of Stockton, Calif., Kristine R. (Michael) Shields of Downers Grove, Ill., Cindy S. Dougall of Cedar Rapids and Jacklyn M.(Jeffrey) Baker of Pewaukee, Wis.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Jay Dougall.
Memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
