Langhurst, Robert

Robert Langhurst, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2011. Iowa Cremation is assisting. There will be no services at Robert's request.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his children, Clay (Michelle) Langhurst, Lori (Joseph) Mulherin, Chris (Cheryl) Langhurst and Joni Litts; and grandchildren, Allison, Robert, Bryce, Carly and Aubree Langhurst, Alexus and Brody Litts and Aaron Mulherin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Charles and Josephine Langhurst. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Wilson High School. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in the family business, Langhurst Trenching Service. Bob loved the steel guitar and played in many bands throughout his life. On Feb. 19, 1956, he married Shirley Caraway. He had many hobbies, loved cars, motocross racing with his boys and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was devoted to his family and holds a special place in their hearts forever.
