Darlene Eckley, 85, of Marion, died at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at Grace Episcopal Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Curt Moermond. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Burial: 3 p.m. Saturday at Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone, Iowa.
Survivors include her son, Mason (Ann) Eckley; and a grandson, Aaron Eckley.
Darlene was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary (Hayes) Barger. On Sept. 30, 1947, she married Lester Eckley. He died in 1985. Darlene enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and playing Yahtzee with her grandson, Aaron. She loved spending time with her family, especially going to the Lighthouse for ribs and listening to Dick Watson, and also to the Amanas to hear the polka bands at Millstream.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charles Barger; and sister, Mary Louise Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Episcopal Church or UnityPoint Hospice.
