Butschi, Martin F. 'Marty'
Martin F. “Marty” Butschi, 63, of Cedar Rapids, passed suddenly, but peacefully, Friday, May 10, 2013, at West Ridge Care Center with family at his side. According to Marty's wishes, he was cremated. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Carol (Bell); son, Adam; sister, Peg (Ron) Boss of Coggon; brother, Dick Butschi of Center Point; mother-in-law, Bernice Bell; sister-in-law, Janet Noble; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Tom Butschi; and sister-in-law, Patricia Raftis.
Marty was born Dec. 2, 1949, the son of William and Doris (Schwietert) Butschi, in Coggon, Iowa. On Dec. 11, 1971, he was united in marriage to Carol Bell. Marty worked in banking most of his career, most recently as vice president of Palo Savings Bank. He was involved in many community activities during his life. Marty was a member of the Rotary, Lions Clubs, chapter president of the American Heart Association, Junior Achievement and a board member of The Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, to name a few.
He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. Marty made many friends through his work and love of golf, bowling and cards.
Marty will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
