Richard Ray Struve Sr. passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Higley Care Center. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, at St. Matthew Catholic Church with family greeting friends after 9 a.m.
Ray was born April 11, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, to Clad and Amy Struve. He served his country in the Navy during World War II in the Admiralty Islands. Ray married Jane Seifert on Oct 30, 1948. He was employed by Nordstrom Oil as vice president from 1953 to 1988.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jane; daughter, Rae Jean (Bill) Yakish; sons, Richard (Diane) and Robb; grandchildren, Brian, Brent (Erin), Brad, Jana (John), Stephanie (Nick) and Stacey (Will); great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Camden, Greyson, Ainsley, Christian, Emma, Avery and Olivia; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Harriette McCulloch.
Our family extends appreciation to Higley and Mercy Hospice for their comforting care.
