Flory, Jordin Mark
Jordin Mark Flory
Our precious Jordin passed into heaven on Oct. 9, 2013, in Columbus, Ohio. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Jordin was born Sunday, Nov. 22, 1987, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated from Highland High School in 2006. Jordin was an amazing athlete. He had a natural level of skill that most people work years to attain. Jordin began wresting at the age of 3 and was a force to be reckoned with on the mat. He qualified three times for the Iowa State High School Wrestling Tournament and medaled two of those years. Along with wrestling he lettered in football and track at Highland. Jordin also successfully showed horses, goats and chickens at the Johnson County 4-H Fair. And then there was that one year he showed a heifer.
Jordin attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, wrestling all over the east coast. He returned to Iowa and attended Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa. While attending college he worked a variety of jobs but especially enjoyed working at Mark Twain Elementary in the before- and after-school program. He was a role model to many children and had a special magic with them.
Jordin began working at Brothers Bar and Grill as bar back and moved up to manager. He managed the Brothers in Champaign, Ill., and was the manager of Brothers Bar and Grill in Columbus, Ohio at the time of his passing.
Jordin was gifted with people and made friends all over the Midwest. He shared his infectious smile, incredible sense of humor and beautiful hazel eyes with everyone he met. Jordin loved riding his Harley, cheering on his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes in football and wrestling and sharing his life with his family and friends.
Jordin was embraced in heaven by the grandma he so dearly missed, Mimi Barb (Barbara Becker), and his uncle for which he was named, Mark Becker.
Devastated by his passing are his parents, Karen (Chuck) Oberman, Iowa City, and Kurtis (Amy) Flory, Ainsworth; his heartbroken siblings, Dakoda and Cheyenne Flory, both of Iowa City, Ryan and Miranda Oberman, Iowa City, Brian Augustine, Washington, Nichole Augustine, Ainsworth; his loving grandparents, Louis (Cindy Cochran) Becker, Iowa City, Jerry and Janice Flory, Washington, Richard and Joyce Oberman, Iowa City; aunts, Krista (Robert) Gaal, Washington, Kelly Robus, West Des Moines, and Sarah Kirtene (Chris) Mackey, New Haven, Conn.; and the cousins he loved so very much, Braden, Marissa and Addison Gaal, Ethan and Zachary Robus, Anna and Peter Mackey; along with many extended family members and countless friends.
Zach, remember, “Brown Power” is eternal.
