ARLEN L. SCHEFFERT
North Liberty
Arlen Lee Scheffert, 78, of North Liberty, passed
away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Sept.
6, 2017, following a long and courageous battle with
cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where the family will greet friends one hour prior to
the service. A private burial will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Arlen was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who found happiness in his love of gardening, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family and the love of his life, Marian Scheffert, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years.
Surviving are three children, Tony Scheffert, Terry Gorman (Paul) and Tracy Winker (Scott); five grandchildren, Chad, Grace, Ellen, Katelyn and Calvin; and two siblings, Duane and Donna Lou.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian Scheffert; and his brother, Donald Scheffert.
Arlen was born Sept. 27, 1938, to Lionel and Lucretia Scheffert in Monona, Iowa. He had a successful career as a barber, firefighter and sales manager for safety and fire equipment at Smeal/Danko Fire. He had a hard work ethic and excelled at all he did as a true perfectionist. He was a true gentleman and friend.
We will miss him every day, but know he is in heaven with the catch of his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in honor of Arlen to the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation (www.apgfoundation.org) or to the Cancer Center at Mayo Clinic. Gifts can be mailed directly to Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
