Price, Esther
Esther Price, 93, a former longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Linwood Cemetery by Chaplin Christine Wagner-Hecht. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Esther is survived by four children, Donna Young, Vern (Barbara) Meek, Ramon Jr. Price and Gail (Jorge) Bonilla; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen and Shirley Nading.
Esther was born May 17, 1917, in Mount Morris, Ill., the daughter of Edward and Leila Cowan Listenberger. She married Ramon Price Sr. on Feb. 26, 1952, in Cedar Rapids.
In her younger years Esther was a manager at Collins Radio. She was also a care provider for many children over the years. Esther loved baking, making most things from scratch and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She loved to talk and loved a bargain and making deals. Esther loved her family and was very giving to anyone in need.
Ramon, Esther's husband of 57 years, who died in Texas on Dec. 25, 2009, also will be celebrated and buried with her.
