Cedar Rapids man injured in motorcycle crash

VIOLA - A Cedar Rapids man was injured Saturday when the motorcycle he was driving crashed near the intersection of County Home and Stone City roads near the unincorporated community of Viola.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Jerry L. Bean Jr., 37, was traveling westbound on County Home Road around 2:55 p.m. Saturday when he left the roadway and rolled his motorcycle several times. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

Bean was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, authorities said.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Linn County Rescue 57, the Springville Fire Department and Monticello Ambulance Service.

The incident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
