Kellogg, Ruby Fae
Ruby Fae Kellogg, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center, where she had been a resident since May 2001. Private graveside services will be held at the Garrison Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone.
A memorial fund has been established for the Keystone Nursing Care Center.
Ruby was born July 24, 1924, in Vinton, to Marion Russell and Helen (Henkle) Alcott. On March 9, 1942, she married Herbert “Herby” Kellogg in Kahoka, Mo., in a double wedding with her brother, Harold Alcott, to his wife, Doris. The couple resided in the Keystone-Dysart area for 57 years. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2002. Ruby had been a member of the United Methodist Church in Garrison.
She is survived by her daughters, Norma (Ralph) Cole of Phoenix, Ariz., and Barbara (Garold) Lerch of Norway; six grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Harold Alcott of Blairstown.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mabel Hale; her great-grandson, Michael Cole; and her sisters, Lillian Jones and Florence Thompson.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff and extended family for their care and caring, as well as to Hospice Compassus.
