Lukes, Leonard V.
Leonard V. Lukes, 93, of Protivin, died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 7, 2010, at Gunderson Hospital in La Crosse, Wis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Protivin. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hugeback's Protivin Funeral Home, where there will be a 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a 6 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation continues from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Bernadine; two sons, Russell (Agnes) Lukes of Protivin and Ron Lukes (Judy Bartlett) of Decorah; two daughters, Janice (Gary) Johnson of Spillville and Shirley (John) Svenson of Webster City; a son-in-law, Dave Cress of Minneapolis; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace (Max) Slifka of Cresco; and two sisters-in-law, Florence Lukes of Robins and Ursula Wagner of Protivin.
