Tri, Thomas J.
Thomas J. Tri, 74, of Olin, formerly of Anamosa, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at his daughter's home in rural Olin. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with burial to follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Thomas was born June 11, 1936, in Mazeppa, Minn., the son of Frank and Anna (Stifter) Tri. Tom worked for Erickson Oil Co. in Hastings, Minn., and transferred to Cedar Rapids in 1965. He worked for Lefebure Corporation and for West Side Transportation as a truck driver until his retirement in 1989. Tom was married to Marlene Dosch in December 1956; they were later divorced. He married Sharon Gardner on June 11, 1977. Tom enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Tom is survived by his children, Thomas L. (Cori) Tri of Kewanee, Wis., Tony (Karla) Tri of Cedar Falls, Teresa (Gregg) Schafer of Swisher, Tim Tri (Jessica Dirks) of Cedar Rapids, Robert Tri of Cedar Rapids and Renae (Dee) Hansen of Olin; grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Steven, Katelynn, Tyler, Olivia, Clint, Tiara, Teagan, Morgan, Wyatt, Maria, Drew, Kialiegh, Quintin and Abigail; stepsons, Rich (Kyia) Urban of Tipton and Brian (Karen) Urban of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Harvey (Margaret) Tri of Zumbrota, Minn.; a sister, Margaret Dolloff of Butte, Mont.; and a special friend, Audrey Oellrich of Marion.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon in August 1989; an infant daughter, Mary; his parents; his brothers, John, Walter and Donald Tri; and sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Catherine Jacobson.
