Hoffa, Mary M. 'Marty'
Mary M. “Marty” Hoffa, 78, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. Memorial Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by Pastor John Seitz. The family will greet friends from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, Diane Hoffa (Pat) Lanteri of Marion, and their children, Austin, Ryan, Tony, and Josh; Matt (Sandy) Hoffa of Cottage Grove, Minn., and their children, Jocelyn, Josh and Joe; Brian (Laura Flores) Hoffa of Little Elm, Texas, and their children, Katie and Tanner; Laurie (Tom) Spears of Vancouver, Wash., and their children, Mike, Matt, Danielle, and Adam; and Greg (Annette) Hoffa of Marion and their son, Preston. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, Louie; two sisters, Virginia Bast and Dorothy McNabb; and three brothers, Buzzy, Don, and Ray Gogg.
Marty was born July 8, 1931, in Nashua, the daughter of Harry C. and Viola (Denton) Gogg. She graduated from Marion High School in 1949. While working at Collins Radio, Marty met Duane Hoffa, they later married on Nov. 8, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Duane passed away June 11, 2009. Marty loved to dance. In their early years of dating and marriage, she and Duane participated in and won several dance contests. She also enjoyed gardening, antiquing, collecting dolls, crossword puzzles, baking, and had a love for all animals, but Marty's greatest love was her family and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Marty's memory.
