Burchland, Jessica Ann
Jessica Ann Burchland, 57, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids and one hour prior to service Friday at the church. Burial at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Cal; son, Josh of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Georgia (Jim) Jurevitz of Hillsdale, Ill., Sandy (Rick) Loney of Richfield, Minn., and Debbie Burr of Muscatine; four nieces, Lisa (Bob) Randall of Nashville, Tenn., Leanne Armetta of Naperville, Ill., and Lorrie (Todd) Jackson and Linda (Pete) Hohen, all of Hillsdale, Ill.; and her aunt and uncle, Clarence and Mary Lick of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Bob Jurevitz; and brother-in-law, Pete Burr.
Jessica was born May 2, 1954, the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Perry) Lick, in Muscatine, Iowa. A graduate of Muscatine High School in 1974, she worked at Stanley Consultant in Muscatine for 10 years and attended Muscatine Community College. On Oct. 27, 1984, Jessica was united in marriage to Calvin Burchland at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Muscatine.
She was a member of the Muscatine Professional Business Women and a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, where she was active with the Women of Hope. Jessica volunteered at Grant Elementary School where she received in 1997 the Golden Rule Award for volunteerism from Gov. Branstad. Jessica encouraged and enjoyed talking about her physical limitations. She loved being with people, her family and especially her son.
