Merck, Randall S.
Randall S. Merck, 50, of Marion, died suddenly Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, with the Rev. Mike McGinty officiating. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military honors provided by American Legion Post 298 of Marion.
Survivors include his son, Brett (Brynn) Merck, and their son, Noland, of Marion; daughter, Erica Merck of Cedar Rapids; fiancee, Mary Vanderlinden of Cedar Rapids; first wife, Angie Simoens of Cedar Rapids; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Randy was born Aug. 1, 1961, in Iowa, and was adopted by Ralph and Genevieve (Ransier) Merck. He married Angie Simoens, and they later divorced. He was currently engaged to Mary Vanderlinden. Randy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in Desert Storm.
Randy's life will continue through his gift to the Iowa Donor Network.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Randy's name.
