Letter: Borcherding best choice for school board

I appreciate The Gazette for its no-nonsense coverage of local issues, but I think The Gazette neglected to ask some questions on the District 3 endorsement for Cedar Rapids Board of Education. Questions I wish The Gazette would have asked the District 3 incumbent are:
Where does the incumbent stand on educational savings accounts (vouchers)? Gov. Kim Reynolds is on record as being in favor of defunding public K-12 education with school vouchers. How does this work in the incumbent's plan to serve the Cedar Rapids Community School District? How does he plan to balance that position while also serving as a county chairman for Gov. Reynold's re-election campaign? (https://reynoldsgregg.com/county-chairs)
Jennifer Borcherding has faced the modern challenges this board must address. For example, Borcherding addresses school vouchers on her website: www.borcherdingforboe.com. Her website also looks at the tough issue of school closures.
Borcherding has the experience not only as an active volunteer and parent but also as a substitute teacher. She has the passion, commitment, knowledge and time to advocate for our students, staff, and taxpayers on the state and (if necessary) national level.
