Thein, Mary Lou
Mary Lou Thein, 85, of Maquoketa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Mary Lou Mueller was born Aug. 2, 1928, in Garnavillo, Iowa, to Albert and Marie (Degnan) Mueller. She was united in marriage to Melvin Thein on April 6, 1951, in Maquoketa, he passed away July 10, 2013.
She went to school for cosmetology and then opened her own hair shop. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa.
Mary Lou is survived by four children, Tom (Loretta) Thein of Monticello, Terry (Mary Jo) Thein of Muscatine, Jane (Mike) Novak of Calamus and Doug (Sarah) Thein of Ventura; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Richard Thein, Leonard Thein and Forrest Thein of Garnavillo; and two sisters-in-law, Fay Thein and Shirley Thein of Garnavillo.
She was preceded in death by are her parents; her husband; two brothers, Louis and Willard; and two sisters, Charlene and Janelle.
