I encourage voters to cast their ballots on June 3 (primary election) for Janet Lyness for Johnson County attorney.
I have known Lyness for a long time and I want to say loudly and clearly: She is doing an exceptional job, she deserves to be re-elected.
For nearly a quarter-century, she has been devoted to this community. She went to school here, earning an undergraduate degree and a law degree from the University of Iowa.
She is raising her family here, and she is involved in numerous community organizations that help people and support our neighborhoods.
She cares deeply about the criminal justice issues facing our community. She has been a voice for victims of crime, including those facing the trauma of sexual assault and domestic violence. She has followed through on her campaign promises to create diversion programs that keep people out of the jail.
She has the experience, the know-how and the humanity.
