A line of strong thunderstorms made its way across Eastern Iowa knocking down some trees and causing some minor power outages.
In Iowa City up to 1,700 MidAmerican Energy customers were without power. In Linn County, Alliant Energy reported a peak of about 3,000 customers without power.
There are reports of trees down across the area and other minor damage. No injuries have been reported.
More severe storms could develop this evening, meteorologist say. Nearly all of Eastern Iowa is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 7 p.m.
The good news? After today's storms move through, Saturday looks like a mostly dry day, with highs in the low to mid 80s. But another rainy pattern sets up in the extended forecast, with rain likely for Father's Day and chances of rain through mid-week before another dry day forecast for Thursday.
