The angels from above gently lifted Velma into heaven Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, to join her husband, Paul. She was surrounded by her loving family and dear friends during her final days at home. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for over six years, but continued to maintain an active social and travel life. Velma was truly an inspiration to others.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at First United Methodist Church of Marion by Pastor Keith Nester. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Dunkard Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
