Maifest, cookbook sales were a big success

On behalf of the Amana Maifest committee, I want to recognize The Gazette's Food Writer,

Angie Holmes, for acting as our parade grand marshal. Holmes and her son did a great job!

Eastern Iowa was blessed with a beautiful sunny day on May 1 and by all accounts we had a wonderful turnout for our annual Maifest/Taste of the Amanas/Touch of Europe Festival.

After the parade, Angie set up a table in our Festhalle Barn & Event Center to sell cookbooks that had been donated to her over the past several months. A respectable sum was raised, all of which will go to Salvation Army flood relief efforts. We thank all those who bought cookbooks or simply donated.
