Leon D. Snider, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, after a long battle with cancer. Services: 5 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at New Disciples Church, 621 Edgewood Rd. NW, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Stasia Fine. Family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; daughters, Debbie and Candi Snider, both of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Joann (Jay) Omengebar of Oklahoma; grandchildren, D.J. and Kayla Brecht, Lani and Kaili Omengebar and Jesse Brecht; brothers, Hullon of Wyoming, Iowa, Leonard (Ruth) of Conroe, Texas, and Marvin of Cape Coral, Fla.; sister, Launie (Wayne) Edwards of Conroe, Texas; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Junior and Truman Snider; and sister, Juliene Shahane.
Leon was born July 12, 1942, the son of Novel and Vera (Blue) Snider, in Conroe, Texas. On Feb. 17, 1968, he was united in marriage to Patricia Parmenter in Anamosa. Leon built silos and worked at the Can Shed and Goodwill.
He enjoyed antiques and going to auctions. Leon also enjoyed Western shows, metal detecting and listening to country and western music.
Memorials may be directed to the family, New Disciples Church or Hospice of Mercy in memory of Leon.
