Coralville woman, on probation, charged with stealing purse from probation office

A Coralville woman is accused of using a credit card and gift card from a purse she stole from the Iowa City Probation office.

Morgan L. Rorex, 21, of 614 Fourth Ave., was caught on tape after she allegedly stole a purse at 11:30 a.m. Friday and used a credit card from the purse to make purchases at Sonic, Walgreens and Wal-Mart, according to police.

Police found the stolen purse inside a large purse in Rorex's van during a home and property check.

Rorex was on probation after she pleaded guilty to a second-degree theft charge for a 2007 incident, in which she was arrested for helping her then-boyfriend deposit empty deposit envelopes at ATM's and withdrawing money and making purchases on a debit card.

Rorex is charged with possession of stolen property and forgery.
