McMann, Erma P.
Erma P. McMann, 90, of Marengo, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Pastor Sheryll Untiedt officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be contributed to Safe Haven of Iowa County or Hospice Compassus.
Erma is survived by her sons, Gary (Kay) of Marengo, Garth of Cedar Rapids. and Ronnie (Deb) of Marengo; four grandchildren, Sharon Carney (Mike), Marjie Krakow (Steve), Travis McMann (Zoe), all of Marengo, and Tonya McMann of Ladora; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend Karen Pratt of Aledo, Ill.
Also surviving are several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two great-grandchildren, Patrick Bladen Carney and Ashlyn Kay Carney.
Erma Pauline Bladen was born July 17, 1919, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Walter M. and Ethel Dye Bladen. She attended the Oak Grove School in rural Iowa County, Iowa. Erma married Vincent McMann on August 25, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple later divorced. Erma was employed for many years as a nurses' aid at the Watts Nursing Home and later at the Marengo Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed reading and was a frequent visitor to the Marengo Library. Erma was very fond of animals. She had several pets, and also fed the occasional stray cat or dog that would appear at her door.
